Ceilidh Events Like No Other

Ceildih Packages

There’s no better way to engage everyone at your special celebration than by getting them up and dancing together, from the energetic 8-year-old fueled by sugar to the seasoned granny who learned these dances as a child.

To make this happen you have Graeme, The Scotsman, a seasoned expert in the art of ceilidh dancing. With over two decades of experience calling dances across Scotland, England, France, Italy, and now Australia, Graeme has mastered the skill of enticing even the most reluctant dancers onto the floor, guiding them through the steps with ease and charm.

Our ceilidhs offer a relaxed and informal atmosphere where making mistakes is part of the fun—as long as you’re willing to jump back in and try again. We pride ourselves on creating a safe and inclusive space, perfect for beginners eager to give it a try.

Ceilidh dancing typically takes up about 30-40% of the evening at weddings in Australia, the rest is usually filled with live band music. This is where The Scotsman Ceilidhs truly shine, offering a fantastic blend of traditional ceilidh tunes and contemporary covers performed by professional musicians with extensive experience touring both locally and internationally.

For those looking to party later into the night, we also offer a DJ package curating your favourite tunes to keep people up on the dance floor until the wee hours.

Ceilidh Options

Depending on your needs and location, there are a number of line-ups available which include

Guitar, double bass, drums, accordion, fiddle, bodhrán.

Typical setups would be:

3-piece: Guitar // Bass // Vocals (with caller)
4-piece: Guitar // Bass // Vocals // Accordion (with Caller)
5-piece: Guitar // Bass // Vocals // Accordion // Drums (with Caller)

For more intimate weddings, Graeme is able to perform as a soloist using specially recorded music for the dancing element.

You can check out some of Graeme’s music on Spotify or by heading to his band pages – The Stovies, The Scotsman and Auld Alliance.

DJ Set

For those looking to party a wee bit later, we offer a DJ Setwhere we can run the sound and music for the rest of the event.

We encourage our clients to send us a list of 25-30 tracks that we will aim to include in the set, and it also gives us a good idea of the sort of music you’re into.

Master of Ceremonies (MC)

We all know that events can be stressful and you have many things to think about on the day.

A host is there to ensure things run smoothly by keeping things on schedule, informing guests of changes and introducing speeches.

Graeme has been running events for over two decades and is a dab hand at hosting. Who doesn’t want a kilted Scotsman greeting them at the door.
