Strengthening Communities Through Dance

Ceilidh Connections

What is Ceilidh Connections?

The brainchild of Graeme, Ceilidh Connections is a project which celebrates diverse cultures, ages, and abilities, offering joyful community events to help forge new social connections aand re-energise communities nationwide.

The project involves a series of 6-8 community ceilidh events run by Graeme and his team which will take place in different towns throughtout Australia.

With a strong focus on accessibility, especially in regional towns, the project aim to break down barriers for arts participation, making the events inclusive for people with disabilities and in those in regional communities.

Where are you running Ceilidh Connections?

In the last 12 months we have run ceilidhs in Sydney (NSW), Hay (NSW), Gosford (NSW), Bunninyong (VIC), Launceston (TAS), Exeter (TAS) with a final incredible event for NYE/Hogmanay in Launceston (TAS).

We have more planned for the next 12 months including Hobart in July, Sydney in November and Hogmanay in Launceston however we are working to garner support and sponsorship to take this project to new towns throughout the country.

Our goal is to have 8-10 Ceilidh Connection events running throughout the country each year covering all states however, to do this, we need support.

Why do this?

Research shows the informal, communal nature of ceilidh dances can have a powerful effect on people’s liveswith profound physical, emotional, mental and social benefits.

Over the last 20 years Graeme has run ceilidhs for children, adults, disability groups and non-English speaking groups around the world and witnessed ceilidhs have a universal language which can transcend barriers and foster connections among people from diverse backgrounds.

With less leisure time, social dances have declined in recent years and have all but been extinguished as a result of Covid. This project seeks to revitalise these social connections and strengthen communities, encouraging people of all ages and abilities to not only witness but actively participate in arts through dance.

Can I have a Ceilidh Connections event in my community?

ABSOLUTELY! We are always looking for new places to run ceilidhs so please get in touch via our Contact page or give us a call on 0476565062.
